Salina Madrid has called the Borderland home her whole life, growing up in Las Cruces, New Mexico—where her love for news first took root.
As a little girl, she’d start her mornings watching the news and reading the newspaper with her grandfather, sparking a passion that’s only grown stronger over the years.
She’s proud to now anchor the KFOX14 Morning News—her dream role after working her way up through nearly every position in the newsroom.
Salina began her career at KFOX14/CBS4 as a production assistant before becoming the morning reporter, Las Cruces Bureau Reporter, Weekend Anchor, and CBS4 Morning Anchor. That journey led her to the seat she holds today.
Now, as the anchor of the 4-hour KFOX14 Morning News, she helps bring in-depth, compassionate coverage to viewers across the Borderland every weekday morning.
Salina is also a proud Aggie, graduating from New Mexico State University in 2018 with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications and a minor in Government. During college, she anchored and reported for KRWG-TV’s News22, earning recognition from the New Mexico Broadcasters Association. She also interned with WCIV ABC News 4 in Charleston, South Carolina.
She’s a lifelong member of Zeta Tau Alpha, where she served as chapter president at NMSU and remains active as an alumna.
Off-air, Salina’s proudest title is mom. She’s a mother to two incredible kids, and her journey raising a son with autism has profoundly shaped her purpose both personally and professionally. That experience led her to co-found Beyond the Diagnosis, a support network and advocacy group for autism families. What began as two moms sharing their hearts has grown into a powerful community offering connection, resources, and inclusive events for children on the spectrum and their families.
Most recently, Salina and her co-founder are opening Beyond the Diagnosis Play Haven—a sensory-friendly indoor play center tailored to meet the needs of neurodiverse children. The space is designed to be a safe haven where families can feel understood and supported, and where every child is celebrated for who they are.
When she’s not reporting or working in the community, Salina enjoys family time, working out, exploring new local spots, and soaking up life’s little joys.
